In 1959, he attended the Saigon National School of Music. From 1959 to 1970, he taught Vietnamese literature and music at private high schools Bo De, Tay Ho, Sao Mai, Ban Cong, Nguyen Cong Tru, Tan Thanh... at Da Nang.
